Menus and Food

  • Earnur's, Minas Tirith

Earnur’s is an elegant bistro located in the fifth circle, with clientele from the senior civil service (particularly the diplomatic corps), the courts, and military officers. It is known for the exceptional quality of its curated menu (changes daily), excellent cellar, and knowledgeable sommeliers and bartenders. A popular in-house band plays twice a week. Note that Earnur’s is often booked out for private functions so if one is only in town for a short period of time, enquiries should be made for availability to avoid disappointment.

  • The Eagle and the Star, Minas Tirith

A family—owned tavern popular with non-commissioned officers, and, on market days, traders. The beer is brewed onsite and is of excellent quality, and the remainder of the drinks list is well chosen and sourced from reputable producers, the pastry is light and flaky and the food is hearty and well cooked and served in generous portions.

Please note: smoking on the premises is only permitted with the express permission of the manager.

  • The Sword and the Goblet, Minas Tirith

A public house in the first circle, near the wholesale markets and the Great Gate, with plain, but good food of the sort expected for a busy public house, with stews and pies. Mixed but friendly clientele, from local working-men, to officials at the gates, and even the odd foreign trader. Beer is decent and prices are fair. The Sword and Goblet is particularly popular on its weekly Haradric Curry Night which serves a range of well spiced curries with spice blends sourced from Nisroch’s Haradric Trade.

  • The Pig and Barrow, Minas Tirith

The food is terrible, the beer stale and watered down, the clientele dodgy, and patrons may be stabbed on departure. Not recommended.

  • The Golden Mumak, Minas Tirith

Located in the sixth circle, near the Civil Service Offices and the Law Courts, this is one of the oldest Haradric-style cafes in Minas Tirith. Consequently popular with members of the judiciary, the legal profession, and civil servants.

The coffee is excellent and served in the Umbar style, though the Northern Haradric style is also available. Food is cooked in an authentic Northern Harad clay oven and over a charcoal grill for authenticity.

  • Nerwen's, Osgiliath

Nerwen’s is a popular tearoom located in Osgiliath, near the University district. A refined place well attended by lady professors and scholars, though its beautifully packaged baked goods are also a welcome treat for anyone in the city. Of particular note are the superb scones and cakes. Nerwen’s also serves a range of excellent drinks including coffee sourced from Harad.

  • Soronto's, Minas Tirith

A very typical Minas Tirith chophouse, with a menu focusing on meat sourced from surrounding farms. Popular with merchants, tradesmen, and those seeking large portions of well cooked, honest food.
